How to record a sale

What is a sale? A sale is when you receive money in exchange for a product or service you deliver to a customer. Record your sales in OZÉ and watch them grow!

How to start recording a transaction

There are two ways to start recording a transaction in OZÉ:

Option One:

  • In your OZÉ app, click on the “+” button. 

  • On the transaction entry screen, you can switch back and forth between a New Sale and a New Expense by using the buttons at the top. 

Option Two:

  • In your OZÉ app, click and hold the “+” button for a few seconds. (We call this a “long press.”)

  • Then, the New Expense and New Sale buttons will pop up. 

  • Choose what type of transaction you want to record! 

How to record a sale

Once you’ve opened the new transaction screen, you’re ready to start recording! Did you know you can record a sale in just a few clicks!? Let’s take you through the quick way and the standard way:

The quick way:

Follow the instructions below to record a sale the quick way:

  • After clicking on the + button, make sure the screen says New Sale at the top. 

  • Choose the date of the transaction by clicking on the date itself or the calendar icon on the right. Note: if you are recording a transaction on the day it happened, today’s date will already be filled in! No need to click it. 

  • Scroll down and select a category or make a new one. (For more information on categories click here.)

  • If you sold more than one unit, enter the Number of Units. 

  • Then, enter the unit price (i.e. GH₵15 per unit). Note: the total price will be automatically calculated for you.

  • Click the green SAVE button at the bottom middle or the SAVE button in the top right corner. And that’s it! 

The standard way:

Follow the instructions below to record a sale with all the details:

  • After clicking on the + button, make sure the screen says New Sale at the top. 

  • Choose the date of the transaction by clicking on the date itself or the calendar icon on the right. Note: if you are recording a transaction on the day it happened, today’s date will already be filled in! No need to click it. 

  • Click on the camera button to add a picture of the product/service you sold or of the written receipt.

  • Enter the location where the sale took place. To use GPS just click on the bullseye on the right. 

  • Next scroll down to Sale Details and enter a description of the sale. This field is really for you to take notes. You can record the color or size of the product, the make and model. It’s completely up to you.

  • Select a category or make a new one ((For more information on categories click here.)

  • If you sold more than one unit, enter the Number of Units. 

  • Then, enter the unit price (i.e. GH₵15 per unit). Note: the total price will be automatically calculated for you.

  • Next scroll down to Customer Details. If the customer is in your phone book, click the Select Contact button. Search for the customer in your phone book and select it. We’ll automatically fill the details for you! Or, you can enter the customer name and phone number manually.

  • Next scroll down to Payment & Delivery. If you sold the product/service at a discount, click the toggle and enter your discount. (For more on discounts, click here.) 

  • If you sold the product/service on credit, select Partial or Unpaid and enter the Amount Paid So Far. (For more on partial or unpaid transactions, click here.) 

  • If the product/service has not been delivered, click the toggle and enter the delivery date. To use one of our delivery partners, click the delivery service button. (For more on undelivered transactions, click here.)  

  • To send a receipt or invoice, click the RECEIPT or INVOICE button in the bottom right corner. A digital receipt or invoice will be generated and you can share it with your customer! 

  • Click the green SAVE button at the bottom middle or the SAVE button in the top right corner. And that’s it!

Coach tip! If you have time, it’s always better to collect more information, than less information. For example, if you capture a picture of the receipt, you can prove to a banker that the sale took place.

Entering an investment

If you get money for your business, in the form of an investment or a loan, you can enter it in OZÉ as a sale. Just create a category called “Investment”.
